Inside the skull the cerebrum of the brain appears convoluted (blue), with the cerebellum (brown) beneath it, the brainstem (pink), as well as tissues of the neck (light red) seen. Parts of the face including eye sockets and nasal bones are seen at lower right. MRI scanning creates inssliceins images through the body using radio waves and a powerful magnetic field. It is useful in determining the health of the brain.
