UMBILICAL HERNIA
Photo essay in a hospital in Congo (Chain of Hope).
Girl with a umbilical hernia.
The umbilical hernia corresponds to a protuberence from a portion of the intestine through the abdominal wall, at the level of the nostril. It is often due to a weakness of the muscles of the abdominal wall. The umbilical hernia is frequent among African children, probably from undernutrition.
