TAKAYASU'S ARTERITIS, MRI

Takayasu's arteritis - frontal MRI of the abdomen.
Takayasu's arteritis ("disease of the pulseless women") is a rare pathology found in young, mainly asian, women characterized by stenosis of the large and medium-sized arteries, most commonly the aorta. Shown here, inflammatory stenosis of the abdominal aorta.
An auto-immune reaction causing inflammation of the vessel walls leads to narrowing and occlusion and the disparition of the radial and carotid pulses.
