POLLEN
Grains of pollen (colorized SEM, x 586, the bar represents 20 microns).

This electron micrograph depicts a morphologic array of pollen granules found on the CDC campus in Atlanta, Georgia, in spring, 2004.
Many of the morphologic traits revealed under such high-powered photomicrographic magnification, are used by botanists when taxonomically classifying pollen granules, and identifying the source plants of these pollen particles.
