ACUTE PANCREATITIS, SCAN
Pancreatitis is an inflammatory disease of the pancreas which may be caused by alcoholism or stones blocking the biliary or pancreatic ducts. Pain is generally felt after a big meal. Other signs associated with pain are digestive disorders, sweating, difficult breathing. Food intake must be limited or stopped for a short time. Enzyme inhibitors and antibiotics are also prescribed. In case of stone formation, ablation of the gallbladder may be indicated. The CT scan is used to study pancreatic tissue and the biliary ducts.
