MYCOPLASMA PNEUMONIAE
Mycoplasm pneumoniae causes atypical pneumonia, often observed in young subjects and associated with extra respiratory signs such as bullous outer ear otitis, skin rash, meningoencephalitis. Mycoplasma pneumonia is difficult to stain and thus not easily recognized under light microscopy. This polymorphous bacteria does not have a cell wall and often takes on a round globular shape.
