MALASSEZIA, SEM
Yeasts of Malassezia (colorized SEM).
Malassezia are lipophile yeasts, belonging to the skin flora (saprotroph resident flora) that can be the cause of mycoses in mankind and animal. Thereby, Malassezia furfur is the agent of pityriasis versicolor and seborrheic dermatitis, Malassezia pachydermatis cause external otitidis in the dog. The morphology of Malassezia yeasts is very particular.
