UTERINE POLYP, ULTRASONOGRAHY
Polyps are generally benign tumors which develop in the mucosa of a hollow organ, here the uterus. The polyp protrudes through of the organ and when it is in the inner wall can cause bleeding. A polyp can also degenerate into a malignant tumor. It is thus preferable to remove polyps surgically. In order to determine the position and the size of the polyp, an ultrasound probe is introduced through the vagina.
