Louis Joseph Gay-Lussac, French chemist and physicist (Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat, 1778 - Paris,1850). He also studied the terrestrial magnetism. He also enunciated the laws of gas dilatation and gas combinaison in volume. With Thenard, he showed that chlorine is a simple body.
