EPHEDRA STIMULANT

Ma huang is a plant traditionally used in chinese medicine. It contains a powerful alkaloid, ephedrine, once used as degongestant and bronchodilator.
Causes importants side effects (infarct, cerebrovascular accident), nowadays ephedrine is used neither in occidental medicine neither in phytotherapy.
Ma huang is an illicit product with a doping effect (increase of the muscular mass), psychic stimulant (effect on the central nervous system), hypolipemic agent (loss of weight), leading to a strong physical and psychological addiction. It is registered on the list I of the convention against the illicit trafic in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
