ACUTE PANCREATITIS, SCAN
Pancreatitis is acute or chronic inflammation of the pancreas. It is caused most often by alcoholism or biliary tract disease. Pain after a large meal is common. Accompanying symptoms include difficult digestion, cold sweats, breathing trouble. Treatment includes temporary fasting, enzyme inhibitors, and antibiotics. In case of calculi, gallbladder removal is possible. A scanner allows exploration of the pancreatic tissue and biliary tract.
