POLLEN
Plant pollen is one of the main substances responsible for respiratory allergies (asthma and hay fever). In some individuals, bits of pollen entering the respiratory tract cause the formation of antipollen antibodies. When these pollens encounter the corresponding antibodies, chemical mediators such as histamine are released, producing the symptoms of allergy.
